Last month, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve kids in a village called Chhuk. My team and I would teach them English in class from morning till evening. We started teaching about 20 kids in total, but by the end of our time in Chhuk, we had a total of 85 kids attending our classes. It was so sweet to see how much the kids enjoyed being around us and how much we impacted their lives.
During this time, I got to spend a lot of time with kids who were 4-12 years old. I don’t consider myself someone who is exceptional with kids. I have always seen myself doing some sort of ministry with young adults or teenagers. However, God shifted my heart in a lot of ways that I did not expect. Spending time in Chhuk made me realize how much I enjoyed spending time with kids. Those kids wanted to spend time and play with me every day. They were always asking me to chase them or pick them up and swing them around, or just be held in my arms and I loved them so much. It gave me a glimpse of what being a father looks like. There was nothing that any of them had to do to be loved by me, I just loved them. In a lot of ways, I saw the Father’s heart for us as his children. There’s no gift we could ever give God to make him love us more and there’s nothing we could ever do to make him love us any less. God just wants to run with you, He desires to chase after you, to pick you up and swing you, to hold you in His arms. He’s our Dad and He just simply loves you and me.
